It’s too bad that hydrangeas are getting such a bad rap. I’m referring, of course, to the lawsuit being brought by the lawyer bride from NYC who is suing her Manhattan florist for creating centerpieces with the wrong color hydrangeas. The flowers were allegedly supposed to be dark rust and green, but were instead pastel pink and green. The damage? The flowers cost $27,435.14. The lawsuit is asking for $400,000 in damages.

People are buzzing, many calling this a frivolous lawsuit, but maybe that’s because they don’t understand just how different the colors of the various hydrangeas can be? The hydrangea is a solid wedding flower (typically!) ranging in color from white to lilac and pink to blue. The rounded heads make beautiful displays and add volume to centerpieces. They are easy to grow and long-lasting. Some of the many colors of hydrangeas are shown below.
