According to PR Web, the site Bridal.com has issued a challenge to all brides to plan weddings that are Green. This means wearing wedding dresses made out of older recycled wedding dresses, used wedding rings or ones made out of recycled gold and serving organic, in-season food. This eco-challenge extends to planning the flowers that will be at the wedding.
So how can flowers, which are already natural be green in nature? The secret is to buy flowers in season the same way you do fruits and vegetables. You just follow the same 100-mile rule which is to only order flowers grown within that radius. If you order flowers from Hawaii and you live in Maine you are leaving a bit carbon imprint on the environment. The key is to make do with what is actually available.
Another nice touch is to make personalized wedding favors by giving away tree seedlings or flower seeds in a packet.
