If you are feeling “royal” about your wedding, blogger Rita Elliot has featured a great bouquet for the Jamaica Gleaner. The idea is to create beds of carnations that are a deep pink in color (which looks purple). This is a bed of blooms in full bloom that are the base of the floral display. The stems anon the carnations are left long and full. The second tier of blooms is a deep blue or purple rose that are barely budded. The entire thing is filled out with tufts of ferns. The effect is very contemporary both in terms of color and in terms of the natural flower treatment, which has to do with leaving the stems very long. What is also nice about this type of bouquet is that it reminds us of the possibilities that an arrangement with flowerbuds can have for adding beauty and distinction to the wedding table. Furthermore if flowers are buds your guests can take them home where they can blossom later.
