In a press release recently, it was announced that model Kate Moss has booked her wedding in a former power station. The station looks very Art Deco. She has also said that it will be a power wedding with white flowers. Most people associate white flowers with innocence and daintiness and not power so what could Kate be thinking?
There are definitely some white flowers that are less girly than others. A really good example is the calla lily, which is a dead serious power flower. Tulips also look very formal in white, especially the ones with single petals. Double pedaled tulips are also gorgeous and a little more feminine. One of the most feminine of white flowers is the white orchid. They look very elegant. They also signify power because they simply are so tall, stateside and also expensive.
Power flowers should also be placed in singles, threes or other odd numbers. The more chaotic and bunched up flowers look, the less like power flowers they look like. No baby’s breath for Kate Moss. The minute you add baby’s breath you diminish the powerful effect of your white bouquet by ten times!
Do you know what flowers are available during your wedding season? What about flowers that are local to your region so that they do not have to be shipped in? It can be hard to find the perfect flowers for your wedding, but it can be even harder if you are not sure what flowers you have to choose from.
The flower generator at Bliss! lets you view a selection of flowers based on things like flower color or the hue of your dress. This can help you to choose the perfect flowers for your wedding without having to worry about a lack of floral knowledge.
There is no need to let your wedding flower choices become limited by your own lack of knowledge, and no reason to rely entirely on your florist to recommend the perfect flowers to go with your wedding dress. The more prepared you can be when you head to the florist shop for the first time, the better your results may be.
According to the Love Flowers, a site that specializes in making bouquets they are making more Tear Drop shaped bouquets even though they kind of went out of style in the eighties. Of course the hippest brides know that the eighties styles are coming back and this could account for this sudden interest again in this very structured and compact bouquet that is shaped exactly like a teardrop.
Teardrop bouquets usually feature a very large central bloom surrounded by flowers that get gradually smaller and smaller. The point of the teardrop is very well defined and the flowers are packed. The blooms are also usually all of the same variety. For instance an entire teardrop bouquet can be constructed solely of roses or callas. Miniature flowers suit this type of bouquet the best and so do blooms that have a bit of graduation in color from their centers to the edges of their petals to exaggerate the teardrop effect.

According to the Virginia Gazette, there are already predictions for what the biggest trends for autumn will be when it comes to wedding flowers. The trends will be brown, hot pink, hot green and hot blue. These are not dull colors. They are intense hues that are very late seventies and early eighties in flair. You will be seeing more wood in the bouquets and floral arrangements as well as dyed flowers such as blue tinged carnations. Leaves, twigs and berries will probably also be present in the bouquet. Freesia, hydrangea, orchids, hypericum berries, winterberries and pepper berries will also be seen in the most haute of bouquets this fall. It is also predicted that the cascading bouquet will be out of fashion and tightly wrapped bouquets will be more in vogue. It is expected that chocolate, cream and hot pink ribbons will also be in fashion in terms of that as well.
You don’t have to sacrifice the beauty of perfect wedding flowers in order to save money. Did you know that planning the date of your ceremony carefully can really help you to save money?
Consider the following tips and tricks if you want beautiful flowers but don’t have a lot of money to spend:
Tip #1: Plan your wedding around Christmas or Easter.
If you plan to get married in a church, during the Christmas and Easter seasons, the sanctuary will already be decorated. This might take a little extra planning with the church committee, but in most cases, if you’re willing to hold your wedding on a date that there are no special events planned, you won’t have to order any flowers at all for the chapel! If you aren’t planning to get married in a Christian church, plan your wedding around the big holiday celebration for your faith.
Tip #2: Avoid a mid-February wedding.
Annually, flower prices sky rocket in February. Valentine’s Day means that you’ll pay more for roses, alone with all other types of flowers. Everyone raises their costs! By waiting just a month, you can save thousands of dollars.
Tip $3: Plan your wedding during the growing season of your favorite flowers.
You’ll save money if you order flowers that are in season. Depending on where you live and what kind of flowers you like, this isn’t always possible, but you should at least talk to a florist or do a little online research before the date is set in stone.
Remember, flowers are a huge expense. Although you might not want to spend a lot of money on them, be prepared for your florist to snag a significant chunk of your budget.

If you are open to options when it comes to your wedding, then why not ditch the veil and replace it with something a bit more fun and even more beautiful?
A veil can be the perfect accent to your wedding day, but a crown of flowers can be just as wonderful. Imagine a wreathe of blooms on your head, bringing color and beauty to your wedding gown and trailing ribbons down your back in the perfect wedding day look. You can get that look with a beautiful crown of flowers, which your florist should be able to help you with.
These beautiful coronets make a wonderful keepsake after your wedding, and can be customized to find the perfect blossoms, the right shades, and even the perfect number of ribbons, whether you want one or a hundred bright trails down your hair and back.
You can even learn how to make your own wedding crown like the one pictured at right at Save on Crafts.

These two flowers are gorgeous in spring and summer bouquets, but beware the dangers of the flowers! Not to yourself, of course, but to each other.

Daffodils and tulips do not particulaly like each other, but they can actually be used in a mixed arrangement without them killing each other off. A big part of the problem is the sticky sap that daffodils exude. To keep them from poisoning the tulips and other flowers, daffodils should be soaked overnight until the sap stops flowing.

Another cure for the sap is to place the daffodils in a mixture that is one gallon of water to every 20-25 drops of bleach for 1-6 hours to stop the sap.
If you have your heart set on daffodils, ask your florist how he or she will prepare them.

Flowers look beautiful on any wedding cake. You can choose to work with a baker that will create pretty designs from edible materials, but if you really want to match your other flowers, why not go for some real additions to your cake? Here are a few things to keep in mind if you’ll be using real flowers for your wedding cake:
Not All Flowers are Safe to be Eaten
While there are many flowers that you can safely eat, there are also some that can be quite dangerous. If you are going to have flowers on your cake, make sure that you ask your baker about eating them. If they are not safe, have someone in charge of removing the flowers from the cake as you serve or use a different kind of flowers altogether.
Even Edible Flowers can Hurt You
Pesticides and other chemicals in our environment can make even edible flowers unsafe. If your baker will be using flowers, make sure they are grown in an organic environment that makes them safe for use with cakes.
Some Flowers Wilt Quickly
Sometimes, when flowers are cut they wilt quickly. This is magnified when they are clipped all the way to the bud and in a hot kitchen. Make sure that you choose flowers that have a little staying power.
